Alexander Maria Lohmann

A travelling loner from tyrol crosses the greatest photographic contrasts of our humanplayground. He is creating the big picture. presented in hangar-7 from 17 september 2015.

After long lasting preparations and numerous adventure trips, Alexander Maria Lohmann will present his photo project „HUMANPLAYGROUND“ at Hangar-7 this autumn. The artist from the Tyrolean high mountains travelled regions, which can be described as far reaches, hottest and most surreal on our planet, as well as large cities such as New York City or Dubai.

These extreme contrasts of our human playground are put upon each other and united into photographic compositions. The entire world of emotions focuses on one photography. The people shall immerse into these multi-layer regions with emotions, shall search themselves and feel the pictures of contrast triggering their body and soul – DEEP INSIDE THEIR LIVING!

No single picture is planned – all happens by chance. Alexander Maria Lohmann and his driver drive with their jeep into infinity, keeping straight ahead, setting the alarm of the smart phone at one hour. They stop. He gets out of the car, turns 90 degrees to the left and marches... after five kilometers of walking distance he stands still and the unexpected happens: he is deep inside the living, and presses the camera release, taking the very picture.

Alexander Maria Lohmann is convinced that pictures must not be superficially “lovely” on first glance, but believes that: „ they are only great when they touch something inside the observer”.

From 17 September to 26 October 2015 the Tyrolean artist will present on 40 running meters large-size pictures from our HUMANPLAYGROUND, located in the exhibition area of the Hangar-7. This autumn exhibition is the start of a long-term series of exhibitions, which will show emotions and contrasts in other places, too.
