Universität Mozarteum – Blick auf Raum und Körper
Skizzen, Zeichnungen und Modelle
Students at the Mozarteum University exhibit their work at Hangar-7
At the “Blick auf Raum und Körper – Modelle, Zeichnungen, Skizzen” [Looking at space and bodies – models, drawings, sketches] exhibition at Hangar-7, eight young artists from the Mozarteum Salzburg University present their current work, which has been created on site. The exhibition is on view at Hangar-7 from 25 April to 30 June 2008 from 9 am until 10 pm daily. Entrance is free.
“In art, the way is the goal. The task of art generally, and therefore the task of the students, is to ask questions,” says Prof. Herbert Kapplmüller of the Department for Stage and Costume Design, Film and Exhibition Architecture, who has organised the exhibition together with Mag. Gerhard Mayer and Stefan Bachmann (Univ. Ass. Dipl. Ing).
Starting from a standpoint chosen by themselves, the artists addressed their questions to Hangar-7 and worked on their responses in drawings and models, thus building up their personal relationship with the architecture and the aircraft. On the basis of this perspective they constructed a body, the “Carabinieri Saal” [Carabinieri room] of the old residency, in a reversed perspective. Through the combination of two completely different spatial systems there emerges a special kind of tension.
The works of Dieter Eisenmann, Beste Erener, Stefanie Forstner, Thomas Rupert Gimpl, Christoph Muth, Hanna Rehner, Geraldine Resch and Violaine Thel are each presented in Hangar-7 from the perspective from which they were created. As a result the art-viewing public are able to take in the central perspective standpoint of each artist. The central theme is to enable the observer to make the leap between reality and illusion.
