HangART-7 Edition 8: Iceland
"HÉRNA ['çérdna, adv. here, that is, now...]"
In Hangar-7 in Salzburg shows contemporary painting by seven artists from Iceland. Already the eighth edition of the HangART-7 art programme, it has been curated by Lioba Reddeker and can be seen daily from 22 September to 11 November.
With only 300,000 inhabitants, Europe’s second largest island nation, a bit out of the way in the North Atlantic, is only very sparsely populated. The arts scene is indeed within manageable limits, but distinguishes itself through a multiplicity of independent and unmistakeable positions. Works by the artists Aron Reyr Sverrisson, Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson, David Örn Halldórsson, Gudmundur Thoroddsen, Helgi Thorgils Fridjónsson, Ragnar Kjartansson and Thorri Hringsson can be seen at the exhibition.
Works are being shown by:
Aron Reyr Sverrisson (*1974), Birgir Snæbjörn Birgissons (*1966), David Örn Halldórsson (*1976), Gudmundur Thoroddsen (*1980), Helgi Thorgils Fridjónssons (*1953), Ragnar Kjartansson (*1976), Thorri Hringsson (*1966).
