Hangar-7 in Concert - Aura Dione
I Will Love You … Wednesday.
Anyone not already in love with Aura Dione and her music soon was on the second Wednesday in September: on this day, the 25-year old Danish musician captivated visitors with her charm and voice at Hangar-7 in Concert in Salzburg.
It would usually be an injustice to hint at the influence of someone’s background on their success. But in Aura Dione’s case, the parallels cannot be ignored. She was born on 21 January 1985 in Copenhagen as the daughter of relatively exciting parents. Her mother is half French and half Faroese while her father is half Danish and half Spanish. They met at a rock festival in Roskilde. Aura’s parents were hippies who took their daughter around the world with them on a sailing boat before settling in Denmark.
So totally different to a standard CV – and the music performed by the lively young woman on 8 September at Hangar-7 was equally different. Aura Dione mixed plenty of temperament with electronica, a touch of country, pop and dub, not forgetting the opulent and often special instrumentals on the drums, piano, strings, glockenspiel, flute, wind instruments and banjo. “Everything I do is done with a dose of humour”. A “humour” which is well received – I Will Love You Monday scored number 2 in the Austrian charts and number 1 in the German charts in spring. Aura Dione initially brought a smile to the faces of the audience at Hangar-7, which transformed into pure enthusiasm over the course of the evening.
