Hangar-7 Wednesday Night - Shaggy
Shaggy at the Wednesday Night
“If you don’t know me yet, just come to one of my concerts. I can guarantee that afterwards you will be a Shaggy fan”, says Shaggy, the uncrowned king of the dance floors. Presumptuous? Certainly not – the artist who grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, simply knows what his music arouses in people’s minds.
And the guests attending July’s Wednesday Night session had the opportunity to get a taste of his talent. Judging from the great atmosphere after the concert, more than a few of them went home as fans on this night of the 22nd of July 2009.
It was a hot evening – and not only because of the high summer temperatures. Starting with the first song, accompanied by the rousing choreography of the successful reggae pop star, Hangar-7 turned into one of the largest dance floors in Salzburg. Be it ska, reggae, R&B or rocksteady: the distinctive raspy voice of the singer made every tune his own – much to the delight of the audience. And when he finally played his world hits “Boombastic”, “Oh Carolina” and “Hot Shot”, the resulting surge of hot emotions was too much for the air conditioning system of Hangar-7 and the temperatures under the glass dome reached tropical levels. One more proof of the passions that were ignited that evening.
