Each month, a different star chef from a different country: the guest chef concept unique worldwide to the Restaurant Ikarus in Hangar-7 is easy to understand and much appreciated by guests from all over the world.

Things which sound simple often require meticulous planning and wide-ranging organisation behind the scenes by the team introducing the idea. Securing a place in the kitchens of the Ikarus is a calling, not a profession, for anyone who can absorb and adapt to a new cooking philosophy every month, quickly learning about one country’s cuisine only to exchange it for another 30 days later. It is the passion of Roland Trettl’s 25 team members which has enabled this vision to become a culinary reality.

August is always reserved for the Executive Chef and his team (f.l.t.r.: Tomislav Dananic, Christoph Lindpointner, Jörg Bruch, Martin Klein, Roland Trettl, Andreas Senn, in front: Ondrej Kovar, Eckart Witzigmann, Thomas Wunderle).

This month is a real highlight in the yearly calendar of the Restaurant Ikarus – which is certainly not short of highlights – since the August menu reflects the true essence of the restaurant’s cuisine: each course combines the collective experiences acquired by the team through their work with the various guest chefs – the individual dishes are ‘playgrounds’ for the creativity of each chef.

Roland Trettl ensures that the ideas and recipes of his team reflect a sense of continuity and harmony at the end. Anyone familiar with this Austrian’s love of the unusual will know that there are sure to be a few surprises in store!
