Landing pad for international top chefs
Under the patronage of Chef of the Century Eckart Witzigmann, Red Bull Hangar-7 launched a culinary beacon that remains unrivalled to this day. The pioneering guest chef concept brings a new star of the global fine dining scene to Restaurant Ikarus every single month. From there, guests embark on a culinary journey around the globe – no suitcase, no boarding pass, and without having to leave Salzburg.
From timeless French classics to minimalist Nordic cuisine and experimental molecular gastronomy – each month, Restaurant Ikarus reinvents itself. For the team, the constant change is both a challenge and a privilege. With every new chef comes a new set of ingredients, techniques and philosophies. Executive Chef Martin Klein dives deep into each upcoming cuisine well ahead of time – travelling the globe to visit guest chefs in their home kitchens, immersing himself in their approach and preparing his team for what’s next on the menu. And what’s the guests’ role in all of this? Just sit back, savour the variety, and enjoy a (long-haul) journey of exceptional flavour.
Culinary Heights at Ikarus
Each month at Salzburg’s two Michelin-starred Restaurant Ikarus, a different top international chef creates the menu. For this globally unique concept, Red Bull Hangar-7 executive chef Martin Klein visits the cream of the crop, takes a look behind the scenes of haute cuisine, and is let in on some exciting culinary secrets. “Culinary Heights at Ikarus” offers a unique glimpse into the world of high-end cuisine and provides an interesting portrait of each guest chef, their culinary philosophy, and the food culture of their country.

Restaurant Ikarus has long held its place among the world’s gastronomic elite: two Michelin stars, five Gault&Millau toques with 19 points, 100 Falstaff points and five spoons in the Schlemmer Atlas – and it’s a proud member of the prestigious association Les Grandes Tables du Monde. After more than 20 years, Restaurant Ikarus is giving itself a well-earned glow-up. Starting June 2025, this culinary hub will shine in a fresh new look – a fitting setting for one of the most ambitious projects in international haute cuisine.
