At the same time, the film tells the story of a place that was born out of a courageous idea and has long since written history itself. He lets those who have helped shape and shape this place from the very beginning have their say. Architect Volkmar Burgstaller remembers the irrepressible zest for action of the early days.
As a result, Red Bull Hangar-7 became not only an architectural icon, but also home to the internationally renowned and two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Ikarus. The film shows the changes that have shaped not only the Red Bull Hangar-7, but also the Restaurant Ikarus after careful planning and 134 days of renovation. And how it has been possible to preserve the spirit of the origin and still create space for something new. For Hangar-7 Executive Chef Martin Klein, the principle of monthly changing guest chefs is still as unusual as on the first day, even after more than 20 years: “It's like being allowed to work in a different restaurant twelve times a year without having to change location.”
While the location remains the same, Red Bull Hangar-7 is constantly changing. The TV programme "Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar-7", events and changing art exhibitions as well as the constantly changing exhibition of the historic and airworthy fleet of "The Flying Bulls" ensure that there is something new to see almost every day. The film also takes a look behind the scenes of an exhibition, where not only the art is an eye-catcher, but also the room in which it is shown.
At the beginning, no one thought what was possible there.
